This off-the-grid, self-sustained residential house was constructed in Baabdat, Lebanon.
Built using concrete, steel, and solid wood. Organically insulated, with a self-sustained power supply using solar panels with large battery storage, and rainwater filtration and collection. The house’s heating system does not require fossil fuels, keeping an ideal ambient indoor temperature all year long.
With bespoke furniture and tailor-made lighting and fixtures, Antoine Maalouf Architects designed and executed a turnkey project in this residential house with no variation orders to speak of and an execution timeline of ten weeks that was fully respected.
The interiors of this house were developed with the intention of creating an amalgam of traditional Levantine architecture, colonial antebellum American architecture, and British features.
Many of the fittings and fixtures were bought at auctions and flea markets, ultimately restored to complement an array of custom-designed furniture tailored to optimise space usage.
